Results still weeks away in ISP shooting investigation
Investigation continues into the police-action shooting that resulted in the death of a Greencastle man on July 1.
It was previously believed that the Indiana State Police investigation into the incident that claimed 28-year-old Charles Aaron Brousard's life would be completed early this week.
Sgt. Joe Watts of the Putnamville Post amended this, saying the ISP investigation will likely be completed either late this week or early next week, but the results will not be finalized for another three to five weeks when the county prosecutor gets toxicology reports back from the lab.
"It's moving ahead as we would like," Watts said. "We want to make sure we have no stone unturned."
Watts added that the ISP has interviewed a large number of witnesses.
He said he appreciates how patient the community has been while waiting for the results.
"I think everyone is waiting for all the facts, and that's probably the best thing," Watts said.
ISP is investigating what led to the shooting after a still-unannounced reserve officer for the Greencastle Police Department was dispatched to 511 Sycamore St. just after midnight the morning of July 1 to resolve a reported domestic disturbance.
