Housing Authority to close waiting list for four months

Saturday, July 21, 2012

Effective Aug. 1, the Greencastle Housing Authority (GHA) waiting list will close for four months.

What that means is that the GHA will not accept any new applications during that time period.

The waiting list is being closed so that the current list can be worked on and GHA can serve those who are on the list.

"Currently the list is running just over 24 months long," GHS Executive Director Nicole Christlieb said. "We would like to see who can be removed from the list due to no longer needing our assistance or who has moved out of the county."

If the list is exhausted and vouchers are still available, the list will reopen sooner than Dec. 1, 2012. At the time the list is reopened, all media outlets will be notified.

The waiting list for Northview will remain open.

  • If your having rent problems there is no one in Greencastle that will help out. Not even emergency rent if your being thrown out is there anyone anymore. Housing authority did help out with emergencies but not anymore. I have been to every church in this town and not a one will help out. I am 3 mos behind and there is no one to help me out. All my family is dead and I am disabled and no govt program, no local program to help.
