Ivy Tech offering courses in Greencastle for fall semester

Ivy Tech Community College -- Greencastle is offering more than 100 different courses in its fall semester schedule.

Fall semester classes begin on Monday, Aug. 20, and end on Saturday, Dec. 15. Classes will be held at the Greencastle Campus, 915 S. Zinc Mill Rd.

Individuals are encouraged to register soon because classes fill early. You can enroll now by visiting the website at IvyTech.edu/nowisthetime.

Courses offered locally include Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Anatomy & Physiology I and II, Advanced Human Physiology, Introductory Biology, General Microbiology, Introduction to Business, Principles of Management, Customer Service, Fundamentals of Public Speaking, Introduction to Interpersonal Communications, Introduction to Microcomputers and Microcomputer Operating Systems.

Also, Reading Strategies for College, Introduction to College Writing, English Composition, Exposition and Persuasion, Introduction to Literature, Introduction to Health Careers, Medical Terminology, Medical Law & Ethics, Health and Wellness for Life, Survey of American History, World Civilization II, Theatre Appreciation, Fundamentals of Algebra I & II, Concepts in Mathematics, College Algebra, Business Communications, Introduction to Psychology, Lifespan Development, Sociology and Spanish I.

Many are introductory courses.

BES Center

The Business and Entrepreneurial Services Center (BES Center) of West Central Indiana is located at Ivy Tech in Greencastle.

The BES Center's mission is to create a culture of innovation and success by strengthening new and existing businesses and individuals through professional development and educational opportunities.

The BES Center provides resource connections to entrepreneurial-related services offered in the community, educational programming like our new "Learn and Earn" workshops offered through Ivy Tech Corporate College and a new Speaker Series. The Center also provides initial incubator space for business start-ups and provides a progressive benchmarking structure to keep start-ups moving toward self-sufficiency.

Ivy Institute of

Technology, Office Administration

The Ivy Institute of Technology is an alternative postsecondary educational delivery strategy. The 40-week program is offered as a single progression of skill acquisition within a fixed daily class schedule of six to eight hours each day, allowing for program completion within one year.

The institute is organized around the principles of competency-based education. The competencies reflect professional industry standards, and the curriculum leads to preparation for nationally-recognized computer software certifications, as well as the integration of business writing, office, collaborative and computer skills.
