Wednesday, August 8, 2012

BAINBRIDGE -- The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has announced that U.S. 36 will close at the railroad tracks in Bainbridge on Monday, Aug. 13 for railroad repairs and resurface work.

CSX Railroad will be working on the crossing. U.S. 36 is scheduled to reopen on Friday, Aug. 17.

The INDOT-approved detour for eastbound traffic follows U.S. 36 to U.S. 231, south to Jackson Street and then Veterans Memorial Highway in Greencastle to State Road 240 (the ongoing U.S. 231 detour through Greencastle) and then north on State Road 75 and back to U.S. 36. Traffic traveling in the opposite direction will use the same detour in reverse.

Crossings at Main Street and Railroad Street in Bainbridge will remain open, as well as the crossings on County Road 800 North and County Road 500 North.

INDOT reminds motorists to follow the posted work zone speed limit, use caution and consider worker safety when traveling through a construction zone.
