Gold panning at McCloud Nature Park

Junior prospectors are invited to McCloud Nature Park on Saturday, Sept. 1 where participants will pan for gold in Big Walnut Creek.

The event will from noon-3 p.m. and children are welcome to keep any gold they happen to find.

Participants are encouraged to bring water shoes, a lawn chair and a picnic lunch.

The park naturalist will guide children through high-banking, gold panning and sluicing along the banks of the creek.

Small children are required to have a personal flotation device.

Registration is required.

McCloud Nature Park is operated by Hendricks County Parks and Recreation and is located at 88518 N. Hughes Rd.
