County Jail

Two people were booked into the Putnam County Jail on Thursday, Aug. 30.

* At 11:40 a.m. Carl Eugene Johnson, 61, Cloverdale, was arrested for violating a restraining order.

* At 4:15 p.m. Robert Lewis Richardson, 42, Fillmore, was charged with three counts of probation violation.

Sheriff's Department

On Thursday, Aug. 30 at 12:25 p.m. Patience N. Whitaker, 20, Greencastle, was entering the roadway from 4252 N. CR 400 East in a 1992 Ford Tempo.

She said her view was obstructed, so she did not see the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Patrick A. Labhart, 28, Greencastle, approaching from the north.

Whitaker entered the road and Labhart hit her car on the passenger side.

Labhart said he did not see Whitaker's car approach and could not avoid the collision.

Damage was listed at $1,001-$2,500.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has been dispatched twice recently.

* On Thursday, Aug. 30 at 6:02 p.m. firefighters were sent to 8 Pinewood Ct. for an unauthorized burn. They returned to the station at 6:18 p.m.

* On Friday, Aug. 31 at 3:50 p.m. crews were sent to the Kroger gas station at 821 Indianapolis Rd. to clean up a fuel spill. They were in service at 4:09 p.m.
