Russellville residents getting ready for annual Roundup this weekend

RUSSELLVILLE -- The annual Russellers' Roundup is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 8-9 at the Russell-ville Community Center.

Food, fun, music and several contests are on tap both days of the annual event.

On Saturday, a health fair is scheduled in the gymnasium from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Several different health screenings will be available, along with raffle drawings for baskets and lots of free information for everyone.

Featured entertainment on Saturday will be Just Us, performing from 1-4 p.m. on the outside free stage at the community center.

Saturday will also feature a baby contest (up to age 3) at 2:15 p.m. and Little Miss and Little Mr. Contest (ages 4-7) at 3 p.m. in the gymnasium.

All children 0-7 are eligible for the contests, and there is no entry fee. However, pre-registration required. Contact Andrea Winn at (765) 592-7020 to register. All children should be dressed in denim to compete.

Behind the Community Center, there will be an Open Fun Horse Show, with registration at 10:30 a.m. and the show at 11:30 a.m. There will be 15 classes with the cost $10 for all day. For questions, contact Ronda Bixler (765) 522-1226 or here.

Also on Saturday Ashley Ramsay will be singing at 5 p.m. on the outside free stage at the community center. Other evening entertainment Saturday will be free line dancing, Western Couples, and Free Style with Ron and Janet Lehr from 6-9 p.m. Anyone with questions may call Ron and Janet Lehr at (765) 866-1285.

Breakfast will be served both days from 8-10:30 a.m., and will include homemade cinnamon rolls, scrambled eggs, sausage gravy and biscuits.

The main meal will consist of sloppy joe, coneys, hot dogs, tenderloin, fish, ham and beans, cornbread, potato salad, slaw, homemade pies and drinks. Serving for lunch will begin at 11 a.m.

Sunday will begin with breakfast from 8-11 a.m. followed by church services at 11 a.m. A car show is set from 2-4 p.m. Interested persons may contact Gerry Thompson at (765) 318-3900.

Special music for Sunday will be Desperate Measures performing from 12:30-4:30 p.m. on the outside free stage at the community center. There will be a Cowboy Challenge and registration is at 12:30 p.m. and will begin at 1:30 p.m. the cost is $10 for two.

Vendors are still needed for the Russellville event. Booth space is free (call 435-3003 or 435-2459 for questions or to reserve a space).

All events are at the Russellville Community Center. The public is invited and most welcome to attend. All proceeds will benefit the community center.

Organizers say help is also needed. Anyone who could spare a couple of hours on either day is asked to just come by the kitchen at the community center to volunteer.
