ROACHDALE -- The North Putnam volleyball team fell in four sets to Crawfordsville 17-25, 15-25, 25-19 and 20-25 Tuesday.

Sam Lucas led the Cougars with 10 points, five blocks and seven kills. Head coach Jill Schreiber said she received wonderful performances from Madi Asbell and Kelsey Reed.

"We started out very slow, but decided to pick up and fight," Schreiber said. "We are improving with each game. Running offensive plays and focusing on us.

"We're not the same team from last year. We are thinking more on an offensive level."

Schreiber also praise the leadership her upperclassmen are providing for the younger players. She said her team is young, but can hang with other teams.

"Yes we are young, but full of surprises," she said. "Most importantly it is good to see the girls have the fight and desire to win. They have worked hard in the off-season and it's starting to show."
