Sept. 20 meeting to focus on Indiana Open Door Law

Thursday, September 13, 2012

In an effort to foster more awareness of Indiana's Open Door Law and what is expected and required of local boards and committees and their members, the Greencastle League of Women Voters and the Banner-Graphic will sponsor a special public program on Thursday, Sept. 20.

Indiana public access counselor Joe Hoage will be giving a presentation titled "Overview of Indiana's Public Access Laws," beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Greencastle City Hall.

Appointed by Gov. Mitch Daniels in 2011, Hoage provides advice and assistance concerning Indiana's Public Access Laws to members of the public, government officials and government employees.

The meeting is envisioned as an opportunity for elected and appointed officials to learn more about their responsibilities under the law. It is also a chance for community members to learn their rights.

Time for questions will follow Hoage's presentation.

The meeting is open to all community members.
