Harsha Behavioral Center appoints Cindy Dowers as chief nursing officer

TERRE HAUTE -- Harsha Behavioral Center recently appointed Cindy Dowers to the position of chief nursing officer.

Dowers has more than 18 years of experience in the nursing field.

She started at Harsha in May as a charge nurse and was recently promoted.

"Cindy has natural leadership qualities," Chief Administrative Officer Holly Near said.

In her new position, Dowers will oversee all aspects of nursing care for patients at Harsha Behavioral Center, which works with several Putnam County nursing home facilities.

Previously, Dowers worked as RN manager at a local hospital. She has also served as a clinical instructor at Indiana State University and is lifelong resident of Vigo County.

Harsha Behavioral Center is a freestanding psychiatric hospital for children, adolescents and geriatrics. It opened in Terre Haute in August 2008.
