Christopher Mann vying for Cloverdale School Board spot

Thursday, October 4, 2012

Christopher L. Mann is seeking a Cloverdale Township seat on the Cloverdale Community School Board.

A lifelong Cloverdale resident, Mann graduated from Cloverdale High School in 1987. After attending Purdue University, Mann returned to his family's farming operation near Clover-dale.

He is married with three children attending Cloverdale Schools.

"The reason I am running for the board is foremost the academic success of our students," Mann said. "Within the global economic conditions facing our nation, state and community, it is paramount the students at Cloverdale attain a superb education to prepare them either for college or advanced technical training. With these skill sets they will have the opportunity for a good career."

Beyond academics, there are other skill sets Mann would like to see Cloverdale students mastering.

"I also want our students to be mentored in leadership, good character, work ethic and citizenship skills as these will be attributes needed for their future success," he said. "This should be the core mission of our school."

Mann would also like to ensure the school's policies are fiscally responsible.

"The second reason I am running for the school board is to develop policies that ensure the school achieves good fiscal management," he said. "I have a good knowledge of school funding in Indiana and am familiar with working with our local lawmakers should the need arise to address any issue as it pertains to our school.

"I also believe in being accountable to our local taxpayers and being efficient with the hard-earned dollars they have invested for the schools' use," he continued. "I believe that all dollars spent at the school should be spent prudently with good business practices applied that ensure the community is getting a maximum rate of return on money collected."

Mann added he has a working knowledge of building maintenance issues that would help make wise decisions regarding the school corporation's physical structures.

"With the experience I have, I feel I can be a good member of the board," Mann said.
