City Police

The same Greencastle intersection -- Jackson and Walnut streets -- produced two property-damage accidents Thursday, City Police reported.

The first occurred at 7:58 a.m. as Glen Oney, 71, Greencastle, was southbound on Jackson Street with the right of way. Driving a 2001 Toyota, Oney was approaching Walnut Street when a 1997 Geo Prizm, driven by James Hinkle, 24, Brazil, entered the intersection and a collision occurred.

Officer Jeff Modlin listed total damage at $1,000-$2,500.

The second mishap occurred at 5:28 p.m. as Mitchell Barnhart, 76, Greencastle, was northbound in a 1996 GM pickup, and slowed to turn left onto Walnut Street.

Also northbound was Monty Records, 47, Greencastle, driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado. Records said he thought Barnhart was slowing and pulling over to the right, but when he attempted to pass on the left, Barnhart turned left and a collision occurred.

Capt. Charles Inman listed total damage at $1,000-$2,500.
