Gloria Jane Stevenson, 78, Perry, Ga., passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012 in Greencastle.

Jane was born in Indianapolis to Scott A.C. and Nell Mae Stader Gentry on Aug. 11, 1934.

She graduated from Tudor Hall Girls School in 1952. She attended Butler University and was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

Jane was an accomplished equestrian, rode and showed English equitation throughout her high school and college years. In fact, it was at a horse show where she met her husband, Joe Stevenson.

The two were married in 1955 and settled in Danville where Joe was an attorney. It was also there where they raised their two children, Josie and Marc. Their love for horses continued, and they spent the next quarter-century raising and training thoroughbred and standard-bred horses.

Jane was active in the Danville Tri Kappa sorority for many years. Most often she could be found volunteering at school events, watching countless football games and choral performances and working beside her children on too many 4-H projects to count. Her family was her great love and she never flagged in her devotion to them.

For the past 17 years, Jane was a resident of Perry, Ga., where she had moved to be near her daughter. She loved to be with people and some of her most fond memories were of the friends she made during those years in Perry while working at the New Perry Hotel and Lane's Packing House.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Marc and Kelly Stevenson; her daughter and son-in-law, Todd and Josie Lowery; four grandchildren, Colt Stevenson, Grayson, Mary Catherine and Nathan Lowery.

The family requested a private service.

Services were entrusted to Crown Hill Funeral Home, Indianapolis.
