Howard Wayne Brown, age 91, Muskegon, Mich., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012 at his home.

Mr. Brown was born May 5, 1921 in Greencastle to Amos and Osa (Heady) Brown.

He served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a lifetime member and past commander of VFW Post 1550, Greencastle.

Howard was employed at the Indiana Youth Center in Plainfield until his retirement in 1985.

He was a Master Mason and Shriner at Temple Lodge 47 in Greencastle.

He is survived by his children, Jan (Greg) Bone of Gibsonia, Pa., Monna Coons of Rancho Mirage, Calif., and Stanley (Jean) Brown of Indianapolis; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sister, Liz Morlan of Brazil; several loving nieces and nephews; and his longtime companion, Joyce E. Forbes of Muskegon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary Coleman Brown; siblings Ray, Roscoe, George, Earl and Ruth.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Brick Chapel Cemetery.
