Cooking 101: Appetizers

Monday, November 5, 2012

Once again Putnam County Extension Homemakers and the Purdue Extension Service are teaming up with Sharon Black from the Putnam County Hospital and Culinary Arts students from Area 30 Career Center, to offer another edition of Cooking 101. This year's cooking program will feature appetizers, just in time for the holiday entertaining season.

The 2012 Cooking 101 program is scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 14 in the Community Room at Area 30 Career Center. The program is open to the public but reservations are necessary. To make reservations, call the Putnam County Extension Office at 653-8411. The cost of the program, which includes demonstrations, handouts and tasting is just $5. Reservations must be made in advance, but participants can pay at the door.

Those attending the program will receive copies of recipes that are prepared, which will include a variety of tasty, easy and seasonal appetizer ideas. Due to limited parking, individuals attending are encouraged to carpool, if possible.

Another interesting opportunity this month being sponsored by Putnam County Extension Homemakers is a trip to tour The Sanctuary, Art Gallery of N.A. Noel in Zionsville, Indiana on Wednesday, Nov. 28. Persons interested in joining the tour to The Sanctuary should contact Kelly Robertson at 710-2704. Robertson is a member of the Northern Lights Extension Homemakers Club, which has planned this year's County Tour. Reservations to join the tour must be submitted by Nov. 14.
