Ruby E. Patterson of Crawfordsville passed away Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 7, 2012 at Seton Specialty Hospital in Lafayette. She was 64.

Ruby gave her heart to God many years ago and was baptized at her place of worship. She was a faithful member of Grace and Mercy Ministries for 34 years.

She often volunteered at the church food bank, sang alto in the choir, helped fix meals for ailing members, and helped with the Thanksgiving dinner, where she would give many pies out to people.

She also took in teenagers and people with no place to live and allowed them to stay in her home.

Born July 31, 1948, near Rockville in Parke County, she was the daughter of Wilbur and Blanche Crawford Shafer.

Survivors include a daughter, Stephanie Pulley of West Point, Ind.; a brother, John (Becky) Shafer; two sisters, Lois Shafer and Pat (Fred) Sly; three grandchildren, Shana, Michael and Mason Pulley, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Jim, sister Elsie and former husband Bob Fischer.

Memorial services will be conducted at Grace and Mercy Ministries at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14 with Pastor Nathan Miller officiating.
