County Jail

Several people have been booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* On Friday, Nov. 9 at 10:45 p.m. Timothy C. Day, 50, Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail for operating while intoxicated with a prior conviction and as a habitual felony offender.

At 11:48 p.m. Jessica Larreane Cook, 32, Crawfordsville, was held at the jail for operating while intoxicated.

* On Saturday, Nov. 10 at 1:45 a.m. Jordan Brent Delp, 22, Martinsville, was booked in for operating while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance.

At 3:30 a.m. Mellissa Ann Morgan, 43, Cloverdale, was arrested for operating while intoxicated with a prior conviction.

At 4:17 a.m. Boitumelo Mashala, 29, Elkhart, was lodged at the jail for operating while intoxicated.

At 11:05 a.m. Eric James Stewart, 32, Ladoga, was charged with failure to appear.

At 9:06 p.m. Jeff Asher Stouder, 57, Cloverdale, was held at the jail for criminal recklessness with a firearm and public intoxication.

* On Sunday, Nov. 11 at 1:30 a.m. Justin Ryan Grant, 26, Paragon, was booked in for operating while intoxicated, public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

At 4:12 a.m. Bolutife Olusegun Olirunda, 23, Muncie, was arrested for operating while intoxicated with a prior conviction.

At 4:30 a.m. Andrew Jason Shafer, 34, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for operating while intoxicated.

At 5 a.m. Matthew Josie Ballew, 18, Fillmore, was charged with operating while intoxicated, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, sale of marijuana and for being a minor in consumption of alcohol.

* On Monday, Nov. 12 at 5:19 p.m. Michael Todd Tewes, 23, Greencastle, was held at the jail for theft and fraud.

* On Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 3:30 a.m. William Joel Clements, 45, Fillmore, was booked in for operating while intoxicated.

Sheriff's Department

* The Putnam County Sheriff's Department responded to three accidents involving deer on the morning of Friday, Nov. 9.

At 5:48 a.m. Timothy S. Farkas, 43, Brazil, was eastbound on U.S. 40 in a 2003 Chrysler Voyager when he hit a deer.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

Matthew D. Kinner, 33, Ladoga, was southbound on U.S. 231 at 7:12 a.m. in a 2010 Ford Focus when he hit a deer just south of County Road 350 North.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

At 7:54 a.m. Julie A. Harbison, 48, Roachdale, hit a deer in the same area. She was southbound on U.S. 231 just north of County Road 350 North in a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix when she hit a deer.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* On Friday at 8:05 a.m. Vernard R. Rentfro, 64, Coatesville, was stopped on County Road 725 East at U.S. 231 in a 2000 Ford Taurus. Travis L. Smith, 22, Roachdale, was behind Rentfro in a 2007 GMC Sierra.

Rentfro began to move forward onto U.S. 36 but noticed a vehicle was traveling too fast so he waited. Smith saw Rentfro begin to move, so he moved forward while looking left for traffic.

Smith did not notice Rentfro stop again, striking his vehicle in the rear.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* On Saturday, Oct. 10 at 11:18 p.m. William D. Gordon Jr., 38, Cloverdale, was eastbound on Interstate 70 at the 42-mile marker in a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis when he fell asleep.

The car impacted a guardrail and suffered extensive damage.

Gordon was transported from the scene by Operation Life for precautionary reasons.

Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.

Individuals listed in the blotter have been arrested on probable cause and have not been formally charged. Charging information may change after an initial arrest.
