Food Pantry donations exceed GHS boys' expectations

Wednesday, November 28, 2012

To the Editor:

On Nov. 15, the Greencastle High School boys' basketball team scrimmaged the Turkey Run Warriors. On very short notice, we decided to also use this occasion as a philanthropic event by collecting non-perishable food items for the Putnam County Emergency Food Pantry.

Our program has done this for the last several years and as always, this year's donations exceeded our expectations.

We're fully aware that there are those in our community who are struggling both financially and personally and this is our way of "giving back" to a community that supports our program through good times and bad.

With that in mind, we thank those who donated during this holiday season. The food has already been delivered and may have even been distributed by the time this letter is published.

So this is a thank-you note -- for donating and supporting our program and most importantly those less fortunate in our wonderful City of Greencastle and all of Putnam County.
