Weekend Christmas program to benefit three counties

Director Jamie France leads the 92-member community choir in a rendition of "Hope of the Broken World." It will be performed at the annual cantata at the Russellville Community Center from Dec. 7-9.

Russellville Community Center will be host to a Christmas program being put on by three local churches this coming weekend, Dec. 7 and 8 at 7 p.m. and on December 9 at 1:30 p.m.

The talent from Browns Valley Christian, Freedom Baptist and Parkersburg Christian banded together to form a 92-member adult choir. With ages ranging from 18-86, this community choir has put together a show for the whole family.

"(I am) amazed how we can bring together these three counties and amazing talent together," Jamie France, director of the choir, said after the dress rehearsal for this weekend.

The choir has pulled together to perform the program Hope of the Broken World, an arrangement of music and word by Dave Clark and David T. Clydesdale.

France commented on the difficulty that Clydesdale can pose, but has faith in his group to pull it off with flying colors.

Hope for the Broken World chronicles the birth of Jesus Christ through inspirational music and performance.

"This is a religious themed program, so no Rudolph or Frosty. It still is a good time, and it is always good to see people who want to come out," France stated.

This performance is a free will, open-to-the-community event, and so is the dinner and lunch that will be held an hour before each of the programs.

"We are making a push for a non-perishable food donation. The donations will go to benefit all three counties." Jim France, manager of the program, stated.

The three counties that will benefit from these donations are Putnam, Parke and Montgomery counties.
