Roger Howard Cook

Roger Howard Cook, 73, of Roachdale, died peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012.

He was born in Batesville, Ind, on March 31, 1939 to the late Howard John and Sarah Franke Cook.

He graduated from Sunman High School and then he graduated from Hanover College where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He received his master's from Indiana University.

He retired from North Putnam Community Schools and later decided to teach again at Kingsway Christian School.

He was a member of Roachdale Christian Church where he served as a deacon and elder.

He met Barbara Jean Blaydes while teaching at Concord Metropolitan School District in Elkhart. They later married on June 27, 1964 at Roachdale Christian Church. She survives.

Other survivors include his daughter, Krista Ann Cook Fuhrman, and son, Kevin Roger Cook and his wife Heather; one brother, David H. Cook of Brookville; one sister, Harriet Bouchillon of El Cajon Calif.; three grandchildren, Olivia McKenna Cook, Sarah Ottilea Fuhrman and Seth Roger Fuhrman; and several nieces and nephews.

Upon learning he had cancer, he told his church family "this is a win-win situation. I will be healed and continue taking care of my family or I will be in heaven. Either way I would be healed."

Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at the Roachdale Christian Church, 1 N. Walnut Street, Roachdale. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 4-8 p.m.

Burial will be at Roachdale Cemetery. Minister Mick Buchanan will officiate.
