Host Cougars have two champs, place 2nd at successful Kenny Kerns Invitational

ROACHDALE -- The North Putnam wrestling team hosted the Kenny Kerns Invitational on Saturday.

The young team compiled a successful 2-2 record on the day, including wins over Rockville (48-30) and North Vermillion (48-21).

The Cougars lost a close match to Bishop Chatard (48-36) and fell to Whiteland, 53-30.

"Overall, the Cougars are improving tremendously," NPHS coach Bucky Kramer said.

Dean Kleiber (at 126) and Eric Davis (285) were individual champions, posting 4-0 records.

Other top performers were Devan Attkisson (145), Justin Scobee (170) and Buck Buchanon (220). They each went 3-1 to earn runner-up honors at their weights.
