Cougars lose close game to Riverton Parke

North Putnam's boys' basketball squad began a four game road stretch with a loss to Riverton Parke on Saturday 62-56.

With starter Jameson Brewer missing the game due to injury, the Cougars received a significant contribution off the bench as Bennett Hazelgrove led the visitors with 19 points.

NPHS led by three after one period, trailed by a point at halftime and entered the fourth quarter tied at 40, North Putnam had two strong scoring bursts in the final frame.

Riverton Parke was able to overcome those stretches with runs of its own.

Brendon Bovair notched the final six Panthers points from the free throw line.

Matt Haltom led all scorers with 27 points while Bovair added 14.

Jordan Nauert scored 10 for the Cougars and Jake Haste added nine.
