Peponi

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

DePauw student, Ariel Cheatham performed a dance titled "Peponi" on Saturday at the Putnam County Public Library. She along with six others spoke at a celebration for Martin Luther King Jr. and the civil rights movement. King dedicated his life to making sure people had equal treatment and did so on the platform of non-violence. Sections of King's works: Letter from Birmingham City Jail and I Have a Dream were read aloud to audience members.

Participants at the library event were also treated to a live jazz/blues band that preformed songs that were in memory of King and the movement. The band included performers Jonathan January, Cliff Gammon, Bob Gammon, Steve Worthington, Susan Thomas, Chris Trigg and Mark Minnick.
