CLOVERDALE -- The Cloverdale boys' basketball team notched its second consecutive win after defeating a visiting Turkey Run squad Saturday night 52-46. The win moves the Clovers to 5-12 with three games left in the regular season.

After maintaining a lead for most of the game, the Clovers had to fight off a charging Turkey Run squad in the waning minutes to secure the win.

Junior Kedrick Collet scored eight first-half points to pace the Clovers and help his squad take a 21-19 lead into halftime.

The Clovers have spend a lot of practice time in recent weeks focusing on outside shooting, and it showed early. In the opening half, the Cloverdale attempted 15 three-pointers, knocking down five.

In the second half, Cloverdale continued to attack the Warriors defense and find seams to the hoop. Junior Zach Dorman began to make his presence felt down low, scoring four points in the quarter. The Clovers grew their lead to three points, 34-31, heading into the fourth quarter.

Just 15 seconds into the fourth, Turkey Run tied the ball game at 34-all when Jeff Woods knocked down his third three-point field goal of the night. However, Cloverdale senior Brody Pfaff responded with a three of his own and the Clovers went on a 5-0 run to take a 39-34 lead and never look back.

Turkey Run pulled within two points, but again Cloverdale was able to respond. Dorman hit a free throw and then followed that with a three-point play after being hacked low in the post giving Cloverdale a 50-46 advantage. Dorman hit another bucket with 40 seconds left to ice the game for the Clovers.

Cloverdale struggled down the stretch at the line, missing its final five attempts at the line. Trips to the line were rare for CHS on the night. Although the Clovers attacked the hoop, they didn't gain their first free throw attempt until the 5:46 mark of the final quarter.

Collet led the Clovers with 16 points, followed by Dorman with 14 and Pfaff with 12. Sophomore Brantson Scott scored five, junior Brandon Dorman three and senior Dustin Cummings two.

Cloverdale (5-12) will travel to Southmont Friday for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
