Weekend thoughts and other notions
Random weekend thoughts -- not necessarily by Jack Handy ...
So it's officially now autumn ... where in the world did the summer go?
Oh yeah, I spent most of it being smothered in a sling in the La-Z-boy.
Happy to be back, thank you very much.

Ronald McDonald will visit the Greencastle Golden Arches on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 1 p.m.
Word at the restaurant is that there is one and only one Ronald McDonald. Like Santa Claus, I suppose.
Regardless, those would be some mighty big shoes to fill.
And whatever happened to the Hamburglar anyway?

Saw the season finale of the Putnam County Playhouse production of "Harvey" Saturday night.
Must say that Jimmy Stewart's got nothing on my old neighbor Michael McClaine.
What an excellent job of using mannerisms and facial expressions to make us feel as though we were seeing Harvey as well.

At times like this I really wish I were a drama critic.
Just so I could write something obnoxious like "Michael McClaine brings new energy to the role of Elwood P. Dowd ..."
(Get it, McClaine was the local Cinergy/PSI electric utility rep in Greencastle for several years). How shocking!

Hmmm, a six-foot-six white rabbit, eh? Just can't see it.
But then again maybe that really was what Grace Slick and Jefferson Airplane saw so much of back in the '70s that they just had to sing about it ("White Rabbit").
Go ahead, "feed your head"!

Bought a couple of juicy tomatoes from Bobby Zaring at the Greencastle Farmers Market Saturday morning.
Just the thought of biting into them had me running to Kroger to buy bacon, lettuce and Miracle Whip.
Now I'm eating BLT's twice a day! Love this time of year.

Went to the Zombie Apocalypse run/walk Saturday morning at Robe-Ann Park to take some photos.
Seems like the zombie craze is having quite a rebirth. Not sure why but it seems like every other movie that comes out has zombies or werewolves or weird creatures of some sort. Hobbit forming?
I really like my movies rooted in reality. You know, like "Field of Dreams."
Remember when movie villains were just bad guys in black hats? It was so much easier to separate good from evil that way.

So, someone please explain to me how the Indianapolis Colts lost at home to Miami one week and then went way out to Frisco Sunday afternoon and beat the tar out of the touted 49ers by 20.
Is you saw that coming, please advise what Powerball numbers are dancing in your head.
