I love a rainy night
Two weeks or so ago, as water stood in my front yard, I wouldn't have imagined myself saying what I'm about to say. But I think Thursday evening's rain was something we needed.
I'm not talking in an agricultural sense. I wouldn't claim to know anything about that.
All I'm observing is that June was a pretty intense month from a weather standpoint. Basically, it was 30 days of sweltering heat punctuated by torrential downpours and lightning storms.
It felt like being in a Wagner opera or an early Metallica album.
But Thursday was a type of rain I'd almost forgotten about. It just sort of came up, reached a medium pace and stayed there for a while. Everything still ended up wet, but the weather never really seemed intent on tearing anything apart.
That was refreshing.
I guess we should all thank Mother Nature for a pat on the head after a month of slaps in the face.
