A non-Christmas interlude
Posted Saturday, December 14, 2013, at 1:27 AM
I don't want this to interfere with my constant posts about Christmas tunes, but this old cartoon has been stuck in my head lately.
I suppose it has something to do with the number of crooners you listen to if you're really taking your Christmas music seriously.
The frequent thoughts of crooners had me thinking of the father owl's exclamation of "A Crooner!" (Imagine a German accent with that.)
It's called "I Love to Singa" and it features cultural references I wouldn't have understood as a 7-year-old, such as "Owl Jolson" and "Jack Bunny."
But the music has stuck with me for a quarter century or so, and I want to share it here today. Thank you, Merry Melodies.
