I should be sleeping
Watching overtime hockey when I should be sleeping, I realize that for a night owl like myself, the best and worst kind of companion is a newborn.
She makes for a great partner in my late night viewing, reading and snacking, sometimes contentedly sitting awake and others dozing lightly, not really caring what I do, so long as I give her attention when she wants it.
She makes for and awful companion when I finally decide it's time to lay down for some shut eye and she thinks it's time to eat/wet herself/just be held.
The truth is, I love watching late night sports or reading late or just being awake when no one else is, but that's not why I'm up so late on a night like this.
With everyone else already snoozing, this time is all mine. Our little palindrome is three weeks old today and already Dad is wondering where the time has gone. These stolen moments will mean a lot to me in the years to come.
