The people, places and some familiar faces that most Greencastle residents know and enjoy will be shared with the rest of southern Indiana next week when the PBS documentary "Our Town: Greencastle" airs on WTIU. CLOVERDALE -- "It was just one of those games where we just plugged away," stated Cloverdale Head Coach Bruce Cook after his ballclub soundly defeated visting Riverton Parke Tuesday evening 51-29. After an impressive run to open the contest, the Clovers relaxed a bit, allowing the Panthers to close to 11-10 early in the second quarter. Cloverdale, however, finished the opening half on an 12-0 run, putting the ballgame out of reach...

BAINBRIDGE -- Having led a Cougar defense that allowed a state-low 5.92 points per game, North Putnam junior linebacker Griffen Dahlstrom was named to the AP 2007 Indiana High School Football Class 2A All-State Team on Tuesday. Dahlstrom, who led the Cougars to their second-straight regional appearance and a 12-1 record, was one of 25 players named to the Class 2A first team...

Elizabeth and Richard Schafer, founders of Hope's Way Recreation Center, spent a cold Saturday morning giving local children pony rides and collecting donations keep Hope's Way's 90 animals fed this winter. The event, held at the Putnam County Fair Grounds, in response to near record high hay prices this winter. According to the Shafers, without the help of charitable neighbors, they would have to seriously consider a mortgage on their home to keep their animals fed through the winter...

On Monday, the Greencastle seventh-grade boys' basketball team defeated Cloverdale 43-23. GMS was lead by Hayden Stuckwisch with nine points, while Nate Christy followed with eight. Brett Gierke and Ethan Perdue chipped in six points each and Kellan Alspaugh added five points...

The Greencastle freshman basketball team split a pair of games this week, losing to the Sullivan "C" team 60-39 on Monday and defeating the Crawfordsville freshmen 37-26 Tuesday. Tyler Parker was the leading scorer both nights with 13 points on Monday and 16 on Tuesday. Keegan Remsburg added 12 against Sullivan and Tyler Lewis scored 11 against Crawfordsville...

The Greencastle eighth-grade boys' basketball A team lost to Danville, 34-29 Monday night. Nick Hutcheson lead the Tiger Cubs with 13 points, with Hunter Mitchell and Trevor Huber adding six points. Hank Spencer and Dustin Law contributed two points each...

CRAWFORDSVILLE -- The North Putnam swim teams traveled to Southmont Tuesday night with both teams falling to the Mounties. The girls fell by a score of 141-35. The Cougar boys lost 127-43. Sophomore Katie Wilcox collected the Cougars' only event win on the evening, taking the 100 freestyle in 1:03.30. Wilcox also picked up a second-place in the 200 IM, finishing in 2:47.20...

The South Putnam swim teams split wins against visiting Tri-West and Ritter Tuesday night. The girls' edged out the Bruins and Ritter 109-108-106, while the boys' came in third 119-93-92. Shelby Johnston and Samantha Tomasino were South Putnam's only first place finishers. Johnson captured the diving title with a dive total of 183-85, while Tomasino took the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:23.06...

TERRE HAUTE -- The Greencastle Tiger Sharks traveled to Terre Haute South Tuesday, where they fell to Braves in both meets. The GHS girls lost 128-58. Erica Soster picked up the Lady Tiger Sharks only win on the evening, taking the 100 freestyle in 59.34...
