Two people and a dog swam to safety Friday night after their car plunged into a Putnam County pond. The accident occurred on a 90-degree curve at 5928 N. CR 600 East, in Floyd Township, where Putnam County law enforcement officials say there have been at least five accidents this year...

Noble "Fuzz" Wallace, San Antonio, Texas, died Wednesday in San Antonio. Born in Brazil, he was the son of William and Elsie Wallace. He attended Brazil High School and was employed by the G.C. Murphy Company for almost 40 years and HEB grocery stores for 13 years...

You may not know the name Ron Woodall but chances are you've admired his work. Woodall, a 1987 graduate of Greencastle High School, won a Visual Effects Society award for his work on "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest". He, along with Bruce Holcomb, Charlie Bailey and Carl Miller won the award for Outstanding Models and Miniatures in a Motion Picture. ...

North Putnam students are somewhere in the middle when it comes to scoring on the ISTEP exam, according to officials at this week's school board meeting. Assistant Superintende-nt Kevin Emsweller told the school board that a majority of the students in grades 3 through 10 scored at or above the state average on the yearly exam this fall, a smaller number fell below average or well above average...

The West Central Conference recently released its all-conference teams for the fall team sports.
