Plans are well under way for the 2008 Chalk Art Bash, scheduled to take place on the Greencastle square, on Sept. 20. This is the second year for the sidewalk chalk art event. Local children will soon have a new place to play, as workers are finishing up the installation a new playground at Big Walnut Community Park. Greencastle Parks and Recreation Director Rod Weinschenk said wet weather in the spring hampered efforts to get the playground installed but that the job should be completed next week. Workers were waiting on the arrival of a slide to complete the installation, he said...

The Greencastle Middle School volleyball squads took on Cascade Thursday evening. The eighth grade traveled to Cascade, earning a split with the Cadets. The A team lost 25-14, 25-17. For a coaching staff dealing with a young team, it's easy to deal in moral victories. When the wins aren't piling up, you try to find the little improvements in losses that show signs of progress.
