The 2008 Putnam County Senior Health Fair is set for Tuesday, Oct. 7 at the Putnam County Fairgrounds Community Building from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The annual event draws a large crowd of senior citizens every year. Flu and pneumonia shots will be available from the Visiting Nurse Service. Individuals with Medicare Part B as their primary insurance must bring their card to get a shot at no cost. For others, the cost is $25 for flu shots and $40 for pneumonia shots...

Coat drive kicks off Friday night

Representatives of the local Coats for Kids drive are hoping to help keep a lot of children warm this winter. "Our goal for the ninth Annual Coats for Kids Campaign is to collect 500 coats for the youth of Putnam County," said Linda Merkel, program coordinator.
