The Greater Greencastle USBC Bowling Association had over sixty youth bowlers that competed in the Youth State Tournament that was held in Merrillville. The Sheldon's Gutter Rats finished sixth out of 130 entries in Division 4 with a team score of 2,581. ...

EMINENCE -- Cloverdale limited Eminence's prolific-scoring Aulani Sinclair to a season-low 14 points Monday, but suffered a 49-46 loss in a nonconference girls basketball game on the Eels' court. Sinclair, a 6-foot-1 senior who has signed with Indiana University, entered the game as the state's leading scorer at 30.5 points per game. She was 4-of-25 from the field, 0-of-8 on 3-pointers, and made 6-of-6 free throws...

CLOVERDALE -- School board members heard ISTEP+ results Monday night from Superintendent Carrie Milner. Scores are down slightly among most grade levels. "We are pleased with many of the scores," said Milner. "Some students have made amazing progress while others continue to struggle."...

Estal Ray Scobee, 87, Greencastle, passed away Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, at his residence. Born July 8, 1921, in Cloverdale, he was the son of Raymond and Mary (Finney) "Mayme" Scobee. He attended Putnamville schools and graduated from Reelsville High School class of 1937...

For 13 North Putnam Community School bus drivers teaching bus safety to students has been a very rewarding experience. This group of dedicated drivers decided to donate their time and efforts to put together a bus safety plan for the year. They began by meeting in August to set up safety education classes for Bainbridge and Roachdale Elementary schools and the sixth grade class at the Middle School...

Several accidents have been reported by the Putnam County Sheriff's Office due to icy road conditions. Taylor Hale, Bainbridge, was traveling on County Road 250 E at 4:10 p.m. Monday, when he attempted to make at turn. His vehicle began skidding due to ice on the road causing him to hit a vehicle driven by Ronald Perkins Jr., of Roachdale. There was an estimated $2,501 to $5,000 in damages...
