The South Putnam swim teams swam Thursday against North Putnam, with the teams splitting. The girls' team won 88-82, while the boys' team lost 86-71. Picking up wins for the South Putnam girls were Brianne Botzum in the 200-yard (3:19.13), Ashley Wilson in the 400-yard freestyle (7:39) and Siera Heim in diving (77.95)...

The eighth grade girls' teams from Greencastle and South Putnam faced off against each other Thursday. The South Putnam A-team won 32-8, as the B-team were victorious 31-8. Mallory Cash and Mattie Varvel led the Eagles' A-team with eight points each, while Jenna Jones had six and Leanna Masters added five. Brittany Birt and Nikki York had two points and Brenly Bratcher chipped in one...

Greencastle's recent hot streak hit a roadblock Friday. The Tiger Cubs battled the Chargers of North Montgomery, falling 61-39. The Tiger Cubs found themselves seemingly a step behind the Chargers all night, which resulted in easy buckets and them shooting 51 percent from the floor. GHS also appeared to become stagnant at times on offense, two aspects of the game that bothered their coach after the game...

CLOVERDALE -- The Cloverdale Clovers boys' basketball team hosted the Eminence Eels Friday night in the final regular season game of the season, and celebrating Senior night. This would also be the final "tune up" before the Clovers open IHSAA tournament play against South Putnam in the second game of the Class 2A, Sectional 46 at South Putnam Tuesday night...

Over a decade ago, Richard Guercio -- 13 years old at the time -- arrived at Greencastle's ResCare facility as the result of a court order. Calvin Conrad Callahan, 82, Reelsville, died at 3:45 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2009 at Cloverleaf Healthcare in Knightsville. He was born Dec. 13, 1926 in Vigo County, as the son of Arthur and Maggie Sinclare Callahan. He had been employed until his retirement with Penn Central and Conrail railroad operations...
