Church celebrates milestone

On July 5, the New Maysville Community Church will be celebrating it's 170th year of service. The church was founded in 1839 by its forefathers in the wilderness of New Maysville. The day of celebration will begin with Sunday School service at 9:30 a.m. followed by the worship service at 10:30. There will be a pitch in dinner immediately after worship service with the homecoming service beginning at 1:30 p.m. The public is invited to come and fellowship on this special day...

Duct tape champions

Anna Beth Urban, center, walked away with the duct tape crown from Putnam County Public Library's Duct Tape Competition Saturday. Urban's spotted horse modeled after her own horse won her best of show with a unanimous decision by the judges and votes from individuals who visited the PCPL booth at the street fair gave her audience choice. Along with Urban are two other contestants, Peter Urban and his boat and Ted Yahraus with his fish.

Above, 2008-09 Greencastle Rotary Club president Eric Wolfe pins 2009-10 club president Murray Pride, who will take over as president next Wednesday, the day after he retires as superintendent of North Putnam Schools. Wolfe was also honored Wednesday, below, by Past District Governor Jim Graham names Wolfe a Paul Harris Fellow for a donation given in Wolfe's name by the club to the Rotary Foundation.
