Warrants issued for parents in child support arrears

GREENCASTLE -- Arrest warrants were issued Wednesday through Putnam County Superior Court for 40 parents charged with criminal non-support of their dependent children. Parents in arrears in child support can be charged with a Class C felony, punishable by up to eight years in prison, if they owe more than $15,000 in back support. Those who owe less than $15,000 are subject to a Class D felony charge, which carries a maximum sentence of three years in jail...
