To the Editor: On June 3, I took relatives from Terre Haute, Rochester and Delphi to see "Hello, Dolly!" at the Putnam County Playhouse. They were very impressed with the performance of local talent. These relatives have season tickets to performing arts in their local areas and feel Greencastle is blessed to have such great plays at a nominal price...

To the Editor: Although we feel that the new cans are too colorful for words, and we realize that not everybody has a place back out of sight to put them, we are finding ease and convenience in using them. We live on a main city street, in an older neighborhood. One set of neighbors up the street has never moved their cans from when they first were delivered. They are not sitting on the parking either, but were smack in the middle of the city sidewalk in front of their house...

To the Editor: On April 30, my staff and I were able to provide some needed dental services to several children in the Putnam County area. Eighteen children received comprehensive dental care and were restored to as healthy a condition as possible. Those that were not able to be completed will be followed up on subsequent visits...

James V. Sutherlin, 68, of Belle Union passed away on Monday, June 7, 2010 at Clarion Health/Methodist Hospice, Indianapolis. He was born on July 2, 1941 in Cloverdale and was the son of the late Verly Delbert and Hazel Pauline Laudig Sutherlin. He was married to Kathy E. Sutherlin on Aug. 17, 1962 and she survives...

Carl K. Morlan, 86, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer's. His family was at his side in California. Carl and his wife Norma Bond Morlan, who survives him, had been married for 64 years. Carl was a former resident of Reelsville, where he was a school bus driver for a number of years and was also known for his auctioneer career...

GREENCASTLE -- The Friends of the Greencastle Fire Department organization was formed in the spring of 2001 and is comprised of people in the community who want to increase awareness of the Fire Department. GREENCASTLE -- A Greencastle boy is believed to have escaped serious injury after being struck by a car late Monday afternoon. A report from the Greencastle Police Department said Glenn K. Hollis, 33, was driving a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix northbound on Bloomington Street just after 4 p.m. when a 14-year-old male riding his bicycle eastbound on Anderson Street rode into Hollis' path...
