CLOVERDALE -- It was another great year for the 4-H Shooting Sports firearms group. With the new addition of pistol speed shooting on steel plates for time and accuracy, safe and enjoyable sport shooting sessions were had by local youth. On July 23, Miles Scot Jernagan was welcomed into the world by his proud parents, Jared and Nicole Jernagan of Greencastle. Miles weighed 7 pounds 6.5 ounces and was 21.25 inches long. GREENCASTLE -- With the installation of the four-way stop at State Road 240 and Percy Julian Dr./Zinc Mill Rd. on Wednesday, there has been some confusion among motorists over how to proceed at the stop. Some have commented that the intersection is almost like an eight-way stop, with turn lanes coming from each of the four directions...

GREENCASTLE -- Despite the recent heavy rains, the major construction project that has been underway for several weeks at Putnam County Hospital is still in full swing. A pole barn in Bainbridge was destroyed by fire Friday morning. Putnam County dispatch called out a structure fire on the west side of C.R. 725 just north of U.S. 36 shortly after 11 a.m. Responding units included the Putnam County Sheriff's Department and the Fillmore, Bainbridge, Danville, Floyd Township, Mill Creek and Greencastle fire departments. The structure was total loss. No injuries were reported.
