Joe K. Webb, 79, of Bainbridge passed away Saturday Feb. 12, 2011 at his home following a brief illness. He was born on Nov. 15, 1931 in Ollie, Ky.; he was the son of Lewis Clay and Mattie Frances Manion Webb. A 1951 graduate of Roachdale High School, he married Patricia Rose Shrout on Oct. 20, 1954 and she survives...

GREENCASTLE -- A sweetheart dinner and dance at the Windy Hills Country Club showed more than one type of love -- the assembled couples' affection for each other was matched by their love for the Greencastle High School band. Proceeds from the night and the silent auction that took place during it went towards an endowment for the band...

GREENCASTLE -- DePauw's men's basketball team won their sixth straight game and 10th out of 11 games Sunday after downing Sewanee 84-70. Though the hosts started off strong and put continual pressure upon the Sewanee defense, the visiting Tigers knocked down eight three-pointers to keep DePauw from running away early in the game...

GREENCASLTE -- DePauw University women's basketball head coach Kris Huffman ratcheted win number 400 in her career Sunday as the hosts cemented their first place standing in the SCAC with a 87-41 hammering of Sewanee. The No. 14 ranked hosts jumped the visiting Tigers from the start, rattling off an 8-0 lead before Sewanee called a timeout to regroup. The visitors hit a three out of the break but the five point deficit was as close as Sewanee would come for the rest of the game...

GREENCASTLE -- In all began in 1993, when Kris Huffman took over the DePauw women's basketball program. Eighteen years later, Huffman recorded her 400th career win at DePauw and has no plans of slowing down. Following Sunday's 87-41 win over Sewanee, Huffman took some time to reflect of what the career milestone means. Ironically, she said she never really thought about milestones as her career began...

ROACHDALE -- The Greencastle boys' junior varsity basketball team capped off a county sweep by the Tiger Cubs Saturday. With its 47-30 win over South Putnam in the Putnam County tournament, Greencastle won county titles in seventh and eighth grade, as well as varsity and junior varsity levels...

Sylvia Jane Hall, 78, of Indianapolis and formerly of Greencastle passed away Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011 at her residence. Born May 26, 1932 in Putnam County, she was the daughter of Lee Armstead and Marguerite Victoria (Ballaux) Martin and a graduate of Greencastle High School class of 1950. She married Bennie Lee "Popeye" Hall on Sept. 12, 1951 and he preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 1991...

Putnam County's girls' swimming season concluded Friday with Greencastle's Sydney Cassida, Emily Wheeler, Melanie Bittles and Sydney Terry competing finishing 31st in the state in the medley relay.
