The clock struck midnight on the Cinderella-themed 2011 Putnam County Fair Queen Contest and Paxton Stephenson of Fillmore was crowned the 2011 queen. Stephenson, 19, is the daughter of Aaron and Mandy Stephenson and a 2011 North Putnam graduate.

The Putnam County Public Library's online catalog may be down briefly the morning of Wednesday, July 20 while an upgrade is applied to the Polaris system software. As a result, the public will see some new features with Polaris 4.0. Some of the most exciting updates offer enhanced access to patrons over the Internet. "Rock Robe-Ann Park," a summer concert for teens, is a partnered event of the Friends of the Park Association, the Greencastle Park and Recreation Department and the Putnam County Tobacco Prevention and Cessation. Looking to help residents save as much as 30 percent on their home energy bills, Putnam RISE is seeking applications from households with annual incomes of less than $45,000. These energy bill savings are possible through the Putnam RISE weatherization effort.
