Marjorie Wingler will be celebrating her 85th birthday on Sunday, Sept. 4 at the Village of Avon, 4171 Forest Pointe Circle, Avon, from 2-4 p.m. All friends and family are invited to celebrate with her.

A local family has welcomed a new addition recently. * Amanda and Aaron Priest, Fillmore, had a girl Aug. 24 at Putnam County Hospital. She weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces and was 20 inches long.

Fillmore Christian Church will host a nine-week class "Effective Parenting in a Defective World" on Wednesdays from Aug. 31 through Oct. 26. The well-known Gospel Servants will present a concert of gospel music at Greencastle Church of the Nazarene, 580 S. 100 East (Round Barn Road) at 6 p.m. Sept. 11. There is no admission charge, but a love offering will be received for the singers.

As a chance to commune with God in nature, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church will continue its tradition of holding a "last of summer" worship service at the pond owned by Mark and Deb Smith. The service is slated for 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 28. The pond is located off County Road 75 East from U.S. 231 North. Three property-damage accidents were investigated recently by Greencastle City Police officers. -- At 7:40 a.m. Friday, a two-vehicle mishap occurred at State Road 240 and Warren Drive, Officer Albert Epple reported. Melissa Stanton, 30, Greencastle, was southbound on Warren Drive, driving a 2005 Dodge Caravan, while Leesa Beaman, 39, Greencastle, was eastbound on 240, turning left when a collision occurred...
