The Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce quarterly luncheon is slated for Tuesday, March 27 at noon and will feature the Dine with a Doc program. Dine with a Doc is a free program that welcomes local seniors get to know the doctor of the month while enjoying a free meal. Doctors donate their time to speak with the seniors...

The Wabash Valley Master Gardeners Association is planning its annual seminar, the Gardeners Gathering, for Saturday, March 10 at Saint Mary of the Woods College. Some members of Family Friends & Fun club of the Putnam County Extension Homemakers got together and have made little gowns, puppy pillows and tote bags for Riley Hospital. They are also making walker bags and knitted hats for some of the nursing homes.

Carolyn's Closet recently opened at 25 S. Indiana St., Greencastle. The shop, owned by Greg and Carrie Jones, features new and gently used clothing, jewelry and accessories. The owners said their idea was to keep people from having to travel out of town to the mall for their clothing needs.

People interested in how Indiana's State Forests are run can share their views at a series of open houses starting next month. Seven open houses between March and September will cover nine state forests and two state recreation areas. At each event, the DNR Division of Forestry will provide information about recreational activities, budget, staffing, major projects, the current DNR Division of Forestry Strategic Plan, invasive species and forest resource management...

Central Elementary School will once again be a regional host for the Elementary M.A.T.H. competition on Thursday, March 1. Area schools participating at Central Elementary are Bainbridge, Central, Fillmore, Reelsville, Roachdale and Tzouanakis. Approximately 7,000 students in grades 4, 5, and 6 from around the state are preparing for the 16th annual Math Academic Teams for Hoosiers (M.A.T.H.) competition, which will take place at 44 sites around the state on March 1. ...

Eugene Te Grotenhuis, age 89, of Orange City, Iowa, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at the Orange City Area Health System Hospital. There will be a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29 at the First Reformed Church in Orange City. Revs. Mark Haverdink and Timothy Breen will officiate...
