Fortunately, the eye-popping temperature reading at First Financial Bank (below) shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday did not cause any accidents at the busy intersection of Indianapolis Road and 10th Street. According to the National Weather Service, the official high temperature at the Indianapolis International Airport was 104 degrees, making this reading from a car thermometer (above) more accurate. The 104-degree day set the June record, topping the 102-degree mark from June 1988.

A lot more Goodwill

The Greencastle Goodwill store is getting ready to move east, from the courthouse square to the former CVS section of the old Marsh building on Indianapolis Rd. The move is expected to occur in mid-July and will add more room, in the store and in the parking lot.
