A couple of weeks ago I rather routinely referred to the boys from the Average House Band as perhaps the best-known and longest-performing contributors to the Greencastle music scene. One of my co-workers seemed astonished by that statement. He scoffed, "There's a Greencastle music scene?"...

Celebrating its 175th anniversary, DePauw University welcomed more than 600 new students to Greencastle this past weekend. Classes for the 2012-13 academic year begin on Wednesday. After spending Saturday unpacking and moving into residence halls, the students processed through campus, led by DePauw University's 19th president, Brian W. After seeing its fair share of scoring last year, it might come in short supply for the Greencastle boys' soccer team in the 2012 season. Through four games this season, Greencastle has mustered only one goal in regulation. "Four games and only one goal says a lot," GHS head coach Dave Lilly said.
