The DePauw University Board of Trustees has approved plans to break ground on Phase One of the university's Athletics and Recreation Facilities Master Plan. Walter "Pappy" Thayer, 79, of Bainbridge, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013. Walter was born on Nov. 6, 1933 to Ole and Beulah Plumber Thayer. He married Charlotte Baker, and she survives. He had worked for GM truck and bus in Indianapolis for 35 years, retiring in 1997 as a millwright. He was a member of the Greencastle Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses...
