The annual Putnam County Fair Board elections will take place at the Putnam County fairgrounds on Monday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. The nominating committee is taking names of interested individuals who would like to serve a one- or two-year term. OTA CITY, Japan -- On the fifth day of his jobs trip to Japan, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence met with executives from Shigeru Co. Ltd., the parent company of Heartland Automotive based in Greencastle. Shigeru established its Greencastle location in 1987 as its American headquarters, manufacturing dashboard assemblies for Subaru. It has grown to also include production for the Camry line at Subaru of Indiana (SIA)...

The South Putnam girls' golf team enters WCC Tournament weekend with an impressive round of 217, which the Eagles' shot at Forest Park on Tuesday. Senior Kyndra Boyce led the team with a 46, followed by a career-best round of 53 from freshman Alicia Haywood. Senior Clair Perry and junior Allacyn Arnold both shot a 59 and junior Carlee Schlatter finished at 62...

With the West Central Conference tournament looming on Saturday for all the girls' golf teams in the county, the athletes will now have a chance to demonstrate the improvements they've made throughout the season. ROACHDALE -- Down 15-14 in the pivotal fifth set, one point from a loss and three from a victory, the North Putnam volleyball team was returning serve for it life. After a brief rally, junior Kaitlin Mindiola pushed a set over the net down the line. The line judge ruled it out, then in, giving the Cougars new life. The team went on to lose the final set, 24-22, but clutch play from Mindiola helped give the team a glimpse of success as it heads toward the Putnam County Tournament this weekend...

CRAWFORDSVILLE -- The wind was blowing constantly throughout the game but the North Putnam girls' soccer team stepped up to take the match on the road against North Montgomery 5-2. "(The wind) not only effected our keeper, it effected the entire team out on the field.
