Production agriculture has been ranked the third most dangerous occupation in the nation. Unfortunately, the Putnam County agriculture community has had its fair share of tragedies during the past five years due to farm-related accidents. With those reasons in mind, the North Putnam High School FFA has decided to begin a production agriculture safety program. Car Seat Clinic (Local News ~ 10/01/14)
The Greencastle Police Department conducted its annual car seat safety clinic Monday at the Putnam County Hospital as part of the National Child Passenger Safety Week. Greencastle Police Department car seat technician Darcy Hendershot led the three-hour program, which also included certified technicians Greencastle Police Chief Tom Sutherlin, Capt. Chris Jones (above), Area 30 Career Center Law Enforcement students along with technicians from the Clay County and Owen County sheriff's departments. The police department conducts the car seat clinic annually as part of the Permanent Fitting Station requirements, which mandate one car seat clinic per year. During the event, Kamilla Plummer was fitted into her new, larger car seat by Jones with the help of her mother Lyndie. -

NPCS seeks more than $7,000 misspent by former employee

An audit report for North Putnam Community Schools filed on Thursday, Sept. 25, reveals that more than $7,000 in finance charges and late fees were incurred to the district due to an employee error.
