Giving Back

Helping teach students about their local community, Carmen Cross' third-graders at Tzouanakis Intermediate School in Greencastle have been conducting a "Giving Back" class project, donating new stuffed animals to the Beyond Homeless Shelter. The class collected the toys over a two-week period, recently donating more than 40 stuffed animals in hopes that each child who stays at the local homeless shelter will receive a stuffed animal to keep. As part of its "Communities" book discussions, the class has been talking about their hometown and doing things for the common good, focusing on ways to give back to the community.
