CLAY CITY -- South Putnam proved Thursday that an eagle's wheelhouse includes more than flying. The girls' cross country team took first overall in the Clay City Invitational Thursday while the boys finished in second place. Earning 36 total points, the Lady Eagles were led by Maddie McHugh, finishing sixth overall with a time of 22:53. CLOVERDALE --Two days before the Putnam County volleyball tourney at North Putnam Saturday, Cloverdale used its opportunity against a county rival to shore up some last minute things. "It was a good win for us going into county this weekend," CHS coach Kathy Moore said. "We played up tempo, had some terrific saves and played better ball tonight.
