MARSHALL -- The South Putnam boys' basketball team pulled out a tough one Tuesday defeating Turkey Run with some clutch foul shooting in a 54-52 opening-season win on the road. The game was close going into the fourth quarter with the score knotted at 41. The Eagles fell behind twice in the final quarter, both at 46-45 with three minutes to go and at 50-48 with 1:12 to go...

DUGGER -- The Cloverdale girls' basketball team earned its second win of the season Tuesday against Dugger Union, which was called upon to replace the South Vermillion team which was unable to play the scheduled date. The change did not phase the Lady Clovers, who took the 62-19 victory with ease...

In the Greencastle girls' basketball team's game with Tri-West, Tuesday at McAnally it took a variety of players and a good defensive effort to earn the 58-45. "I think we are a good team of basketball players," GHS coach Brad Key said. A 20-year-old Heritage Lake man -- literally a Boy Scout and honor student before "his life went off the rails," as his attorney said -- has been sentenced in connection with two residential burglaries.
